I need some advice

I am offically 20 weeks pregnant with my sweet Elouise. I can't even believe that I will see her in 20 weeks or less. It feels like I was just spilling the beans that I was pregnant!

It's amazing how time flies. I am a planner. I like to have things organized and a plan in place before I embark on something. This drives my mother crazy as she is more of the "live life one moment at a time" person and see where life takes you. It drives us both equally nuts.

Anyway, I am starting a registery for my sweet girl and I need some advice from second time mom's or mom's with newborns. I may have forgotten what exactly you need and what is a waste of money. It HAS been about 3 years since I had a newborn, after all. So what are some "must haves" for parents with 2 kids under the age of 4. Hazel will be 4 three months after Elouise gets here so I need to know what I need to have to make my life easier! And moms with newborns: what can you not go a day without? What is essential?
I saved pretty much all of Hazel's clothes from her whole life hoarder alert, so we are set on clothes but we need a new swing, glider, car seat, stroller (any advice on a double stroller? Was thinking of the sit-n-stand one), and diapers (duh). Basically, ALL the expensive stuff! HAHA!

Any advice is welcome! Thank you :)
PS I'm starting to freak out. How am I going to have 2 children? That seems overwhelming to me at the moment.

  1. I've had a lot of people telling me that a diaper gene is essential especially because we have pets that like to dig in the trash as well as a baby positioner for the crib, a boppy pillow a high chair that is easy to clean. I managed to find a wood highchair for $10 at a garage sale when I first found out I was pregnant. A glider or a rocker might be good as well and I'm on the hunt for one as well!

  2. You'll probably need a sling/baby carrier so you can be hands free! We have a sit n stand and I really wish I had just paid the extra $50 or so for a double jogger. Yes they are heavy (it is a double stroller after all). The sit n stand is just not great quality, but good for what it is and for the price.

  5. I just had my second little girl a month ago and have a 2 year old. I was in the same boat as with not being sure what I "actually" needed again. The Fisher-Price Rock-n-Play is GREAT!! Lydia sleeps in it next to our bed for now, hoping to transition soon to her crib. We also bought a double stroller I can't think of the name of it now but it is a must have if you take a lot of trips to the zoo or other things like that. I have always used Pampers diapers. They are a little more expensive but neither of their girls have any major blowouts in them or reactions to them. Burp cloths!! The ones at Walmart that are also cloth diapers work great! We also kept alot of Lucy's clothes and other things like highchair and carseat so we are just reusing them. Any other questions or concerns let me know if I can help!!!

  7. Oh dear, I can't even remember and my 2nd is only 18 months old! Ha ha!! I would say a bjorn was a great investment though- I got mine from a consignment shop!

  8. I use slings and baby carriers out in public quite often, even now with my 12 month old. When I had him, my older son was only 14 months old and not walking, so I had to figure out how to carry 2 children around for awhile. The other thing I highly suggest is a swaddle blanket or two for nights, and gowns for nights for easy diaper changes.
